How do I test my sump pump?

Slowly pour a bucket of water into the sump pit until the float rises. The pump should start, empty the pit and switch off on its own. If it hums without pumping, doesn’t start, or keeps running, call us.

Can a sump pump discharge line freeze in winter?

Yes. If the discharge line is frozen or blocked, water can’t leave even when the pump runs. Keep the outlet clear of snow and ice, and call us if the pump runs but the pit doesn’t empty.
